Saint Taylor, the souvenir that captivated Taylor Swift fans at Foro Sol

Publish date: 2024-05-12

Unofficial merchandise for the hit pop artist, Taylor Swift, showed the American singer as a religious saint at her concert in Foro Sol, Mexico.

Swift is currently embarking on her 'Eras Tour', the sixth tour of her career. So far, she has toured through the United States and recently completed a four-day tour of Mexico in the country's capital city.

The highly popular musician has a large and passionate fanbase, affectionately dubbed 'Swifties' as a play on the singer's surname who religiously adore the 33-year-old from Pennsylvania.

Some are so affectionate of the star that they deified Swift, selling merchandise showing her as 'San Taylor' or Saint Taylor in English, whilst others portrayed the 26-time Grammy winner with the Sacred Heart that is typically associated with Jesus Christ.

Amongst the religious iconography portraying the singer was members of her team, spotted by Swifties as they investigated the unofficial merchandise stalls.

Members of her team, dressed all in black, walked along the stalls outside of the Foro Sol venue, which is housed at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez racing circuit, and sold out up to 65,000 seats on each of the four nights.

The interesting catch here is that Taylor Swift herself may know of the merchandise and devotion of her fans, as one of her team was witnessed purchasing a poster portraying the singer as the aforementioned Sacred Heart.

What is the Eras Tour?

As Taylor Swift's sixth career tour, the 'Eras Tour' will be a reflection and journey of Swift's musical career and her albums.

It will feature 146 shows across five continents of the world and is set to become one of the most successful touring acts of all-time.

It commenced in March 2023 and will end in November 2024. Swift recently completed the Mexican leg of the tour and will now take a brief break until November 2023 after already completing 57 nights of singing.

The demand for tickets to see the artist was so great that tickets for the tour sold out within hours of release, prompting the musical hit to extend her stays at some of the locations she will perform at.

On the first opportunity of US sales, Swift sold over 2.4 million tickets setting the record for the most sold by an artist in one day, and had been estimated to have earned over $500m dollars as far back as December 2022 looking set to eclipse Madonna's record for a female set in 2009.
