Benjamin’s son Richard and Stockton’s daughter Catherine are OceanGate’s founder’s great-grandparents. Richard Sr. is the grandfather of OceanGate’s CEO, he was born July 14, 1905, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to parents Benjamin Rush and Mary Wheeler Lockwood. Richard Sr. attended Princeton University. He was married to Deborah Norris Brock.

The union of Richard Sr. and Deborah Norris produced three children Richard Rush Jr., Lockwood Rush, and John Rush. The Rushs migrated to New York City, from Philadelphia before once again moving to San Franciso when Richard Jr. came of age.

Ellen is the daughter of Ralph and Louise Davies. His father Richard Rush Jr. was also known as Tock” Rush. The pair’s wedding was covered by San Francisco Examiner and featured a full-page picture on the front page of the newspaper.

His father Richard Jr. served in US Marines Corps between 1953 and 1955, he was also part of an elite volunteer reconnaissance unit. Richard Jr. was also involved in multiple Oil and Gas projects and construction projects. He is also credited with the construction of the New Zealand of Takaro.

Wendy joined OceanGate in an executive position in June 2021 as Comms and Tracking Team Member and later assumed her current role as Director of Communications in January 2022.

Stockton and Wendy got married on July 5, 1986, in front of their relatives and friends. Jean Hellen Weinberg was the maid of honor and John Christian Stauffer was the best man at the wedding.
