Miranda Kerr wasnt actually naked on the cover of Harpers Bazaar

THERE’S been an exceptional amount of fuss over Miranda Kerr’s naked body on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar’s January issue, which hit newsstands today.

Kerr, who has made a living out of getting her kit off, previously appeared nude in Harper’s in 2011, 2012 and 2014, as well as Rolling Stone, GQ and the Pirelli calendar.

This time around, Kerr has admitted she wasn’t fully naked during the photo shoot, which took place on the balcony of a Los Angeles hotel.

“Yeah afterwards when I told my boyfriend [Kerr is dating Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel] about the shoot, he was like, ‘Does that mean everybody saw you walking around nude?’,” she told Harper’s.

“I had to explain to him that I do have a G-string on and that I am covered up with a robe in between shots, and that nothing is really showing apart from my skin.”

Harper’s Bazaar Australia editor Kellie Hush told news.com.au the nude G-string was later Photoshopped out. “This is what all models wear on editorial shoots,” she said.

Hush defended the “sophisticated” cover shot, which hit stands just two weeks after Pirelli was praised for its “feminist” 2016 calendar starring Amy Schumer, Serena Williams and other accomplished women.

“We’re now living in an era of Victoria Secret Angels, stolen nude photos and attempts to break the internet with reality stars in provocative poses, this isn’t the same thing,” she said in a statement.

Harper’s Bazaar has long celebrated the daring woman — someone with vision, commitment, style — and a total lack of fear. Miranda may be naked but she’s a trailblazer and this cover celebrates this.”

In the interview accompanying the photo shoot, Kerr revealed the now widely shared nude cover was actually unplanned.

“The thing about nude photographs is that they can look iconic and tasteful, and they can be timeless because there is no fashion that ties them to a particular era,” she said.

“But the funny thing about this shoot was that I didn’t know we were doing nudes — I thought we were doing a fashion story. We needed to get somebody in quick to give me a wax. I was not prepared at all.”

Kerr was left in a fit of giggles when asked about her relationship with Spiegel, who is 25.

“We connect on many different levels. We have a lot of fun together and he is really, really thoughtful. We have a great spiritual connection and erm ... yeah,” she said, trailing off. “Let’s just leave it at that, shall we?”

The 32-year-old said she stays in shape by doing pilates several times a week.

“When it comes to my body, I really notice the different when I do pilates on the reformer machine,” she said. “If I do that fives time a week then my body feels tight. If I don’t, then I feel all flabby.

“And I’m really into Kundalini yoga, which is all about activating your inner energy and opening up your chakras. But yoga is also something I do for my mind and my spirit. I really feel it’s nurturing for my soul.”

The January/February issue of Harper’s Bazaar is on sale now.
