John Gielgud was an English actor, stage artist, voice actor, director, and writer who was one of the trinity of actors (along with Ralph Richardson and Laurence Olivier) who dominated the British stage scene for much of the 20th century. He initially focused only on theatre and did not take the cinema seriously during the first half of his career (although he did appear in his first film in 1924). John became one of the few actors with the rare distinction of winning an Oscar, an Emmy, a Grammy, and a Tony.
